Completing the Invention Project the project takes a minimum of 12 hours to complete over a three-week course. You will be in a cohort and with a mentor and be able to participate in additional activities. You will need access to a “user” and can use whatever you can access to complete the project. Our mentors will be there to support you with three weekly check-ins.
Keeping Connected if you are participating in the online camp, we ask that after registering you create an OSU Canvas guest account and a Remind account. We will be using both of these tools to help our mentors connect with you. You do not need to use Remind, but it is free, and has language and safety features. Both Canvas and Remind have parent/youth safety features that guardians can enable to help us protect youth online.
Activities and Special Events youth will have access to weekly repeatable activities throughout the three-week virtual invention camp. Youth will have access to special events. These events and activities will vary from real-time mentor led design challenges, college panels, and project check-ins that youth can complete with them in real-time or on their own. The activities and events are useful ways to help youth think about their invention projects, college life, STEM concepts, and an inventor mindset.
Be an Inventor at iINVENT we ask that youth be welcoming and willing to fail at iINVENT. Fail fast and learn fast in a supportive inclusive community. If you decide to join us at iINVENT, come knowing that inventors need a space to incubate ideas and to build community in order to develop creative solutions. We are here to welcome all youth into that space and build community with them.
