Young Entrepreneur’s Business Week (YEBW) YEBW’s college-accredited programs apply textbook theory to real world situations. Students reside in Weatherford Hall and experience the value of business skills for any occupation. Participants are placed in mock companies and are given the opportunity to lead their peers as the CEO, crunch numbers as part of the finance team, or develop a marketing plan to skyrocket their sales. OSU Summer Veterinary Experience The OSU Summer Veterinary Experience is a hands-on learning experience for academically talented high school students interested in veterinary medicine. High School Journalism Institute Co-hosted by OSU and The Oregonian, this camp seeks to nurture budding journalists underrepresented in the field. With guidance from professionals in the field, participants use real journalism skills to report and photograph a 32-page newspaper, as well as blog and produce multimedia pieces for The Oregonian's website. Outreach in Biotechnology The ORB program is an educational outreach education program to promote public understanding of biotechnology in agriculture and natural resources. The program aims to explain the science behind genetic engineering and examines some of the science-based concerns pertaining to the use of this technology in agricultural production systems. The website contains numerous educational resources including downloadable PowerPoint presentations, regulatory information, news and current issues, as well as a variety of useful web links for further information. Summer Experience in Science and Engineering for Youth (SESEY) A program primarily for high school girls and ethnic minorities traditionally underrepresented in science and engineering. OSU Chamber Music Workshop The Oregon State University Chamber Music Workshop is a summer program for advanced and intermediate string musicians, ages 10 through 23. The workshop takes place in the heart of the Willamette Valley, on the beautiful campuses of Oregon State University and Ashbrook Independent School in Corvallis. Participants benefit from expert coaching, sight reading clinics, supervised practice sessions, master classes, the opportunity to perform with small ensembles in formal and informal concerts and more. There is also ample time to explore Corvallis and the OSU campus through a wide range of free time activities. The OSU Chamber Music Workshop features an on-campus residence option, available for both sessions. A limited number of need-based and merit scholarships will be provided.
