iINVENT School Day and Afterschool Programs

iINVENT is a FREE program designed for Oregon classrooms and after-school programs! 

Students work with OSU college students as invention mentors who will guide them in creating something that enhances the quality of life of someone else. They will select a user for their invention project, work with a college mentor, create an invention pitch, and gain access to exclusive engineering design challenges and college connection events. By the end of the program, students become an inventor, meet college students, and learn about Oregon State University!

Key Highlights

  • iINVENT programs include 1 self-paced human-centered design project, 2 invention activities, and 2 project check-ins
  • There are 6 hours of virtual instruction and 2 hours of teacher professional development
  • Students apply science, technology, engineering, and math to create something that enhances the life of someone else
  • Learn about invention and the innovation process using United States Patent and Trademark Office activities
  • All iINVENT programs will follow applicable health and safety guidelines
  • Teachers receive $500 stipend for participation
