Students, teachers, and mentors explore examples of real problem-based learning occurring within their communities. This session primes students and mentors for their individual projects to occur in the create phase; both students and mentors gain an understanding through modeling of how local community members approach Indigenous issues through hands-on experiences with cultural relevance.

Past adventures include:

  • Visiting a multigenerational oyster farm
  • Trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and activity with the Elakha Alliance
  • Beading workshop
  • Activities at the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology
  • Tour of Portland businesses: Bison Coffee, Ice Queen, and Back to the Basket
  • Activity with OSU DAMlab
  • Journalism workshop with Underscore News
  • Meeting amazing artists Katana (Twanha), Palani (No End of Designs), and Sydelle (Kanine)
